We like to trust Big Platforms with our stuff, assuming it will always be there. Most of the time it holds. But I prepare for the worst: getting blocked, losing access, or a service just going dark. That is why I build small, focused tools that keep me less stressed and sip my coffee bit slower hehe :)
One of them is a GitHub backuper bot that mirrors everything to my personal VPS. It already paid off.
And hey, today it flagged that a forked open-source repo I had in my private storage was blocked. Building your own safety net 🏰 never hurts ;)
